Our client is a nationally recognized, award-winning law firm specializing in holding product manufacturers accountable. Known for its accessible, trustworthy attorneys, the firm places a strong emphasis on communication and transparency, ensuring clients receive the highest level of service.

The firm’s legacy litigation system, a custom-built application on Salesforce, had originally met their needs. However, as the firm expanded, the limitations of the system became evident. The application had been built as a managed package, which made it difficult to implement updates or changes. The firm was unable to add new fields, update screens or enhance the system without being locked into their original vendor. This growing inflexibility began to impede the firm’s ability to scale and evolve.

After assessing the options, it became clear that the most cost-effective and future-proof solution was to completely rebuild the application from scratch. The goal was to retain the beneficial aspects of the existing system while redesigning areas that no longer met the firm’s expanding needs.

The rebuild process included migrating over records and files stored within the legacy system. This data migration was particularly complex due to the need to move files to an entirely new record structure. Accuracy was critical, as the firm could not afford to lose or alter any data during the transition.

To manage this complex migration, we utilized MuleSoft to facilitate the movement of data between the old and new Salesforce environments, connecting files to new objects in the system. Additionally, Salesforce Flow was employed to automate parts of the migration process, ensuring that data importation into the new system was efficient and accurate.

The transition to the new system was seamless. On the go-live day, attorneys and paralegals were able to resume work without disruption, easily picking up cases and continuing their workflows. The careful planning and execution of the data migration ensured that no issues arose, and the migration was completed with zero data loss.

The new customized Salesforce application has greatly improved the firm’s operational flexibility. The firm can now add fields, and objects and update screens without restrictions, allowing the system to grow with their evolving business needs. The automation features supporting key business processes were built with best practices in mind, ensuring they are both reusable and easily enhanced in the future.

By rebuilding the system and leveraging modern tools and technologies, the firm is now better equipped to manage future growth and continue delivering exceptional legal services to its clients.
